How to Apply

Carroll University is committed to enrolling students who will be academically and socially successful at our institution. The information on this page will help you along with your application process.

We know that every Carroll student is more than a number or a test score, and we also know that the answer to the question, “What’s a good ACT or SAT score?” varies from student to student.
At Carroll University, we’ll take the guesswork out. If you send us your ACT or SAT score, we’ll use it only if it helps your application and merit scholarship.
Don’t want to send a score? No problem! We’ll use the other information in your application to consider you for both admission and scholarships. 

Your application is considered complete and ready for review when the following documents are received:

1.  Application for Admission

• Apply using Carroll's application
• We also accept the Common Application
• There is never a fee to apply to Carroll University.

2. Official or Unofficial High School Transcript

• Students must have completed a minimum of 6 semesters of high school to be eligible for review (through junior year)
• Unofficial transcripts are accepted for admission purposes
• A final, official transcript will be required at the completion of your high school degree

3. Standardized Test Scores (optional)

• Carroll accepts ACT or SAT
• ​The writing portion of the ACT is not required or considered in admission
• An unofficial copy of your test score is accepted for admission purposes
• If multiple test scores are received, we will super score to give students a benefit

Please note: The admission committee reserves the right to request additional information. Examples could include a personal statement or letters of recommendation. Homeschooled students will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Additional information may be requested prior to an admission decision being made and may include ACT or SAT score, course descriptions/syllabi, and letters of recommendation. 

Evaluation for acceptance generally takes two to three weeks and is completed on a rolling basis.

Carroll performs a holistic review of all applicants. While not required, additional information provided will be considered and can include the following:

• Rigor of high school coursework
• ​High school GPA
• Test scores (if submitted)
• ​Personal statement
• Co-curricular involvement
• Community service and/or work experience
