Carroll's engineering programs are specifically designed to meet the significant engineering needs of both regional and national markets. Unlike many other programs, ours will be integrated within the liberal arts framework at Carroll. This unique approach will ensure that Carroll engineers become highly sought after for their ability to solve problems both as technicians and critical thinkers. This article outlines the new Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and Mechanical Engineering (MEE) programs.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, colleges have observed a marked increase in students struggling with transitional issues, particularly those related to mental health and emotional well-being. The pandemic disrupted the typical middle and high school experiences, leading to a new generation of students who missed out on crucial social development during their formative years. Many of these students, now in college, are grappling with heightened anxiety and self-doubt. They often find themselves in a unique position: needing support that falls between informal peer advice and formal clinical therapy. This has been compounded by lessened social integration due to COVID-19 restrictions.

713 undergraduate students became young alumni this past Saturday at our 177th Commencement ceremony. Sarah Brown Wessling, the 2010 National Teacher of the Year, opened the keynote speech by explaining to our students that this would be one of those moments where “beginnings and endings are so intertwined, it’s tough to know which one you’re feeling right now.
